  • Equine Information Document (EID) Effective July 31 it is mandatory for all Canadian Food Inspection Agency inspected facilities in Canada engaged in the slaughter of equine for edible purposes to have complete records for all animals (domestic and imported) presented for slaughter.
  • Blank EID form added to web site Private Members Bill C-544 to ban horse slaughter Contact your elected official and explain that shutting down the licensed horse processing plants in Canada would have no affect on food safety, it would however, have a very adverse affect on the welfare of horses in North America. NSEF Bursary Recipients Announced
NSEF is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2010 NSEF Youth Bursary Program. Eighteen applications were received from young NSEF members from all over the province and it took many hours to decide on the top four applicants. Our congratulations are extended to Stephanie Adams, from Newport, Damita Hansen, from Centreville, Jenna Nickerson, from Yarmouth, and Kelly Harnish, from Newport who all received a $500.00 bursary to assist them with post-secondary education expenses. Many thanks to all of you who applied and remember, you may apply again next year for this bursary.
