Candidate Considerations and What You Need to Know about Challenging Exams and Submitting Results

As a prerequisite to Instructor/Coach Certification:

  • Candidates who wish to attain their Equine Canada NCCP Instructor Certification must successfully complete levels 1-4

  • Candidates who wish to attain their Equine Canada NCCP Coach certification will be required to complete levels 1-4 and the Basic Training Component of the Intermediate Rider program and may be required to complete other components as seen fit depending on the level of coaching they wish to attain

Submitting Results

All Western Rider Level 1-4 forms are to be submitted to the Equestrian Nova Scotia by the evaluator. These forms must include: candidate's mailing address, phone number, current Equestrian NS membership number (or membership application) with appropriate administration fee ($15.00).

Certificates and badges will be mailed directly from the Equestrian Nova Scotia to all successful Western Rider Level candidates.

Challenging Exam

Candidates can challenge any Rider Level up to and including Rider 4.  However, in the case of challenges, the candidate must complete the Written and Stable Management portions of all the Levels prior to the Level they are challenging. They may then be evaluated on the challenged Level. Rider 4 is a prerequisite to Basic Training. If a candidate is unsuccessful at the Rider Level they are challenging the evaluator has the option to award the rider with the appropriate level.

PLEASE NOTE: Prior to taking the Rider Level Evaluations, candidates must be recommended - for each level of the Learn to Ride program by a current Equine Canada certified western instructor/coach. In addition candidates must be current members of the Equestrian NS.
