Who Can Host, Evaluate and Participate in a Rider Level Evaluation
Who can host:
Individuals can host a Rider evaluation at their barn with prior approval from the Equestrian NS. Test Organizers complete the Application to Host form and submit it to the Equestrian NS a minimum of 30 days prior to testing along with the Candidate Application form. Please see below for information on evaluators.
Who is qualified to deliver/conduct the program:
To evaluate in the Western Rider Level 1-4 program all evaluators must be active/current Equine Canada NCCP certified Instructors or Coaches.
Western Rider Level 1-2 Exams

One Equine Canada current certified Western Instructor, Competition Coach/Coach Specialist or High Performance Coach to evaluate; or Coach 1 or higher

Rider may be recommended and evaluated by own current certified Instructor or Coach
Western Rider Level 3 Exams

One Equine Canada current certified Western Instructor of Beginners, Competition Coach/ Coach Specialist, or High Performance Coach to evaluate; or coach 1 or higher

Rider may be recommended and evaluated by own current certified Instructor or Coach
Western Rider Level 4 Exams

Two Equine Canada current certified Western Competition Coaches ( or Coach 1 or higher) / Coach Specialists, or High Performance Coaches(one may be the rider's own current certified Coach, but cannot be the Chief Evaluator) to evaluate, OR one Coaching Program Evaluator of either the Competition Coach/Coach Specialist or High Performance contexts(may not be rider's own Coach)
Rider may be recommended by their own certified Instructor or Coach
Official evaluator forms for Rider Level evaluations can be obtained from the Equestrian Nova Scotia. All results from Rider Level examinations must be submitted to the Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation on the official evaluator forms.
Rider Level 1-4 evaluator fees should be no more than an evaluator's regular lesson rate. Additional expenses may be incurred by the evaluator which may increase the total cost such as mileage, hotel, etc.
Evaluators should review the results of an evaluation with the individual candidates at the conclusion of the evaluation day. However, please note that all Western Rider evaluation results are to be returned to the Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation. Not to the candidate.
Who can participate in evaluations:
To participate in the Rider Level 1-4 program all candidates MUST be current members of the Equestrian Nova Scotia.
